Drink Tap Water at Your Own Risk

Tap Water

It happened with meats. It happened with antibiotics and even lying in. It was only a matter of time before we found out that drinking tap water could be damaging to your health. On the other hand if you have been following recent news stories you may not find this surprising. Water that spontaneously catches fire cannot be good for you.

Tap Water

Some tap water may have a chemical in it used in most brands of toothpaste. Fantastic, you say! Now I no longer have to brush my teeth. Well, I hate to disappoint you but experts have found that Fluoride is useless at cleaning your teeth.  But it can damage your body when consumed.

So what are some of these adverse effects. Brace yourself. Scientists claim that the chemical could impact the pineal gland in your brain. This part of your brain has been linked with degenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s. It can also have a negative effect on soft tissues like kidneys and ironically your teeth. Before you find all the toothpaste in your house and hurl it out the window let me give you some good news.

Fluoride is used in very small quantities in toothpaste. If you want to worry about anything worry about the water you are drinking. Tests have shown that Fluoride is linked with low IQ and it is thought to be present in far higher quantities in water supplies. Many effects of the chemical are still unknown but research is on going.

What can you do to avoid consuming this chemical? Well you can switch  to bottled water. Or you could consider a Water Cooler Rental Service. Water coolers are filled with fresh bottled water.

You may be wondering what the big deal is with drinking tap water. This might sound like bad science and all studies are open for debate. This is true. However, by drinking water with this chemical you are  basically consuming an unknown drug. You would not take a drug from a doctor unless he told you what it did. So why would you drink it in your water?

And Fluoride is not the only chemical present in tap water. Water from a tap also has levels of Arsenic and Chlorine. Arsenic is present in very small quantities but has been linked to causing some types of cancer. It does not sound like something you want to be consuming.

Chlorine is what causes that weird bleach smell in swimming pools. It is used to keep water free from bacteria. Several studies have shown that, if consumed, it can cause problems in the kidney’s and liver. You may want to think twice about diving too much at the next water park you visit.

We are not suggesting that you stop drinking tap water all together of course. But it is a possible to buy a cheap water filter or opt for something more expensive. The choice is up to you, but you deserve to know what could be in your family’s water supply.
