Mental Health

If your loved one mental health hasn’t been too great lately, and they have finally decided that they need to do something about it. Great! That means you are going to want to help in any way they can. It can be tricky, though, as mental health is something that is not always viable on the outside. That means it will take some good communication skills to discover what it is that your loved one most needs to help their situation improve.

Remember that everyone is different, so what works for some people won’t necessarily work for your family member. It may be that they need some extra time alone, to rest and make sense of what’s going on with them. Or it may be that they get worse if they spend too much time on their own. So they will need your support as well as that of professionals such as the ones at

If you have a friend that is trying to give up or cut down on smoking then one of the most important things that you can do for them to be patient. You will also need to be understanding.

It is important that you don’t set yourself up as completely anti-smoking as this can cause tension between you. Support them if they want to cut down at first instead of giving up straight away. It can also be very easy for them to blame their smoking on being in control of their own lives, and them not liking you telling them what to do.

Another thing you can do to help is to make sure that they have enough supplies of their nicotine replacement products or e-liquid for vaping to hand.  You can even sign them up to a monthly e-cigarette subscription service like the one at Then they know they will never be a time when they are running short and so get tempted to smoke a real cigarette.

If you loved one is trying to eat healthier, there are actually a lot of things that you can do to support them. The first is to not to eat loads of chips and candy in front of them all the time.

If you cook for them, try to keep to the diet plan that they have decided on for that meal. It’s also a good idea to stock up on healthy snacks. Then they will have something to munch on when they get peckish without having to give into temptation.

Your attitude can be crucial too. Celebrate their victories and help them put any bumps in the road behind them, and get back on task as quickly as possible.
