Steroids are always a hot topic in the health and fitness community. Everyone has their views, but should you take them? In my eyes, no, you should never take anabolic steroids. And, I’m going to back up my view with some reasons why:

It’s Illegal

Taking anabolic steroids is illegal in pretty much every country, all over the world. It’s seen as a dangerous and performance enhancing drug. Anyone that does any sport will be banned if they’re found to be taking steroids. Similarly, access to these drugs is not legal. There is no legal institution that will sell these steroids to you. If you want them, you’d have to go through some dodgy dealer, and you’ll be breaking the law. Don’t put yourself at risk, just because you want to see more muscle gains. If you are trying to become a professional athlete, then taking steroids will put your career at risk. Even if you’re playing college level sports, one failed drugs test, and that’s it. Generally speaking, things are illegal for a reason. If something is illegal, that usually means it’s pretty bad, and you should stay away from it.

It Can Cause ED

Another excellent reason not to take steroids is because they can cause erectile dysfunction. There is lots of information on the causes of erectile dysfunction, and anabolic steroids are one. Yes, taking anabolic steroids can do horrific things to the testicles and lead to this issue. The ironic thing is, a lot of guys take steroids so they can become massive and think it makes them more of a man. When, in fact, they’re becoming less and less of a man. Of course, this is a serious issue that can have a real bearing on the rest of your life. If you take steroids from a young age, you could end up without the ability to conceive children. That’s a pretty big thing, and you should be concerned about it.

It Causes Acne

If you’ve ever been in the gym, you might look at some of the big people and wonder if they’re on steroids. One of the easiest ways to tell is if they’re covered in acne. Now, I’m not saying that everyone with acne will be on steroids! But, it is a major side effect of taking this drug. The chemicals in steroids can cause you to break out in horrific acne. Not only on your face but your body too. Anyone that’s ever had acne will tell you that it’s not a nice thing at all. It can damage your confidence and permanently scar you too. Some people with severe acne will be left with scars that stay for the rest of their life.

It’s important to note that throughout this piece I’ve been talking about anabolic steroids. There are loads of variations of steroids out there. Some of which are legal and used in medication for people with asthma or other conditions. However, anabolic ones are dangerous, and you should avoid them at all costs. If you want to get big and muscular, then there are tonnes of things you can do to stay fit. And, none of them involve steroid use.
